about
Hymn, for me, is a song of hope and hopelessness, despair and comfort. It very much reflects the narrative arc of the album (The King Of Misery) and is a cornerstone of the record as well as being an accurate reflection of my personal journey.
The song was inspired by my friends and family, particularly my parents who have loved me unconditionally throughout the toughest of times.
The song features vocals from my mum, dad, brother and sister as well as many other friends including Felix Mackenzie-Barrow and Adam Peter Smith from the band Divorce and Alex Milne from the band Catmilk. I’m incredibly grateful to all of my friends and family who sang on this track. I’m very lucky indeed!
lyrics
There’s a hope inside of me
There’s a hope inside of me
It’s somewhere that I can’t see
There’s a hope inside of me
Lay your weary head on me
Lay your weary head on me
‘Cos there’s something that I can see
Lay your weary head on me
There’s no hope inside of me
There’s no hope inside of me
Am I too broken to believe
There’s any hope inside of me
Lay your weary head on me
LAY YOUR WEARY HEAD ON ME
I’ll break you off a bit of Peace
I’ll be air that you can breath
